Hello blogging world.
I have attempted to keep a blog of my creative adventures in the past. My efforts were all in vain because I was completing two undergraduate degrees and didn't have the time to dedicate to it. It was five years of absolute insanity but completely worth it now that I'm done. I graduated in June with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours (in music) and a Bachelor of Education. Now that I'm done school and the job market for new teachers sucks, I spend my days creating art or practicing piano and my evenings teaching art and music.
The Studio
I keep all of my paper, sketchbooks and reference books on this IKEA book shelf. I also have my really old stereo on it, because I can't work without music on. I use the IKEA cart for general supply storage and for a surface to hold my palette when I'm working on my easel.
I keep all of my inventory for sales on the top two shelves of this Billy Bookcase from IKEA (noticing a theme yet?). This shelf also houses all of my markers, pencil crayons, glue, etc. I also look after little kids quite frequently and they have become obsessed with doing art with me so this shelf also houses all of the supplies that are for their use only. They know they can use anything on that shelf without having to ask first.

This is the amazing table my dad designed and built for me when we were turning the space into the studio. It uses three kitchen cabinets as its base (two skinny and one long) and a piece of MDF on top of 2x4 as the support for the table top. I am tall so we made the table high enough that I can comfortably stand cutting fabric without my back hurting. We also installed pot lights underneath the bulkhead for some extra light. My favourite feature of the whole room is the brick wall we found when we gutted the room. I had to do a lot of restoration work to fill rows of missing brick but the final product turned out amazingly well and it adds a lot of character to an otherwise boring room.
I have a small sitting area which also serves as a storage area for finished pieces. The coffee table often doubles as a drying rack.
There is a small room off the main studio that I turned into my storage area. On one wall I keep all of my fabric and supplies for sewing. On the other wall is paint, card/scrapbooking supplies, beads and other assorted craft supplies.
